Alex Soroka's route into senior rugby runs through Belvedere College, Clontarf and the Leinster Academy. A powerful forward with the mobility to cover the back row and second row, he came through the school game at Belvedere before grounding himself in senior club rugby at Castle Avenue. His schools cup record included a try in Belvedere's 2019 Leinster Schools Senior Cup quarter-final win over Newbridge and involvement in that year's semi-final against St Michael's.

Soroka moved from Belvedere into the Clontarf and Leinster pathway, joining the Leinster Academy for the 2020/21 season. His senior breakthrough came quickly. He made his Leinster debut during the 2020/21 season and was handed a first senior start away to Zebre in March 2021 while still a young academy forward.

His Ireland U20 involvement gives the profile a strong cohort link. In the 2021 U20 Six Nations, Soroka started in the second row against England alongside Harry Sheridan in a matchday squad that also included Jamie Osborne, Nathan Doak, Cathal Forde, Jude Postlethwaite, Alex Kendellen, Reuben Crothers, Jack Boyle and Daniel Okeke. Several of that group have since pushed into senior provincial rugby, making the 2021 Ireland U20 side a useful marker in Soroka's pathway.

The Soroka story is also a family and club story. His older brother Ivan Soroka is strongly linked with Clontarf, and both brothers later had important moments in the same club colours. In December 2025, Alex and Ivan were both central figures in Clontarf's first Energia Bateman Cup title, with Alex scoring from close range before Ivan came off the bench to score the decisive late try.
