Charlie Tector's pathway runs through Kilkenny College, Lansdowne FC, Ireland U20 and Leinster. He is another player whose route sits slightly outside the main Dublin school powerhouses, giving the current squad a useful provincial-school pathway from Kilkenny into the Leinster system.

His family name is already familiar in Irish sport. Tector is part of the same sporting family as Ireland cricketers Harry and Jack Tector, but his own route has been through rugby: schools rugby, Lansdowne FC, Ireland U20, the Leinster Academy and then the senior squad.
