Profile

Ciaran Frawley's pathway is a little different from the standard Leinster schools route. He grew up through Skerries RFC and Skerries Community College before moving into UCD and then the Leinster Academy. That north county Dublin route matters, because it shows a player reaching Leinster and Ireland without coming through one of the traditional heavyweight schools.

Frawley broke through at Leinster as a skilful, adaptable back capable of playing out-half, centre and full-back. His versatility became both a strength and a complication: it kept him valuable in big squads, but also made it harder for him to settle permanently in one position. By 2025/26 he had passed 100 Leinster appearances and scored more than 300 points for the province.

His Ireland story has had some striking moments. The most memorable came in Durban in 2024, when he kicked two late drop goals against South Africa, including the final-play winner, to give Ireland a 25-24 victory and square the series. It was the sort of moment that turned a versatile squad player into a player with a genuine Test-match signature.

Frawley's profile is now entering a new chapter. He will join Connacht ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the move framed around opportunity, game time and the chance to work again with Stuart Lancaster. For Irish Rugby Hub, his profile links Skerries, UCD, Leinster, Ireland U20, Ireland A, senior Ireland and Connacht in one of the more interesting inter-provincial pathway stories.
