James Culhane is a back-row forward whose pathway runs through De La Salle Palmerston FC, Blackrock College, UCD, Ireland U20 and Leinster. From Enniskerry, he came through the Leinster schools and club pathway with a profile that has always carried a strong family rugby thread, following his father Paul Culhane, who captained Ireland at underage and university level.

Blackrock College gave Culhane a high-level schools platform before he moved into UCD and the Leinster Academy. His Ireland U20 involvement then made him one of the standout forwards of the 2022 age-grade group.
