Profile

Jamison Gibson-Park's pathway is different from almost every other player in the Leinster squad. He grew up in New Zealand, with rugby roots through Gisborne Boys' High School, Taranaki, the Blues, the Hurricanes and the Maori All Blacks before moving to Leinster in 2016. His route into Irish rugby was not a schools-to-academy pathway, but a professional relocation that eventually became one of the most important Leinster and Ireland stories of the modern era.

His early years in Ireland were not straightforward. Gibson-Park arrived into a deep Leinster squad and had to fight for status at scrum-half, initially competing for minutes rather than arriving as an automatic starter. Over time, his speed of service, tempo control and ability to attack around the ruck turned him into a central player for both Leinster and Ireland.

The breakthrough with Ireland changed how his career was viewed. Since qualifying for Ireland and making his Test debut in 2020, he has become one of the key figures in the national side's attacking rhythm. His passing speed, decision-making and ability to keep the game moving have shaped how Ireland play under Andy Farrell.

By 2025/26, Gibson-Park is a senior Leinster leader, an Ireland Grand Slam winner and a British & Irish Lion. His profile connects New Zealand schools and Super Rugby with Leinster, Ireland and the Lions, and shows how a player can become deeply embedded in Irish rugby even without coming through the traditional Irish pathway.
